Splitboarding!

When you think of snowboarding, you see a board in one piece. When you think of skiing, you see two separate skis, one on each feet. Now imagine combing the two! Coming the two makes a new and upcoming sport called splitboarding. Ultimately the purpose of splitboarding is to allow you to scale large, flatter mountain terrain on the trip up the mountain. With the split skis you can move up and around the mountain with much less effort and quicker. Also when you need to step out of the board, you can put the board on your back much easier and efficiently.
Once you make it to the top, it is now time to enjoy the ride down! When you are ready, you are able to join the skis together to make a board and snowboard down the mountain. With the technology in split boards, the skis ride like typical skis and the board rides like a typical board. Two sports in one and two completely different ways to attack the mountain!

  1. Wow! What a great idea! I’ve never been snowboarding but I have done quite a bit of skiing. I’m wondering, though, what is the likelihood of the snowboard coming apart when you’re halfway down the mountain? It looks like they have some heavy duty clips keeping them together? Sounds exciting.
